A young family of soon to be 4 was longing for more space in their tiny end of-a-row Victorian House. They commissioned CU for a comprehensive Feasibility Study to explore their options. A third-floor addition for the parents’ use only was deemed to be the right solution. To prepare for the addition, underpinning and structural improvements of the existing brick foundation were required. Our clients decided to put the third-floor addition on hold and invest into the newly gained space in the basement.

Special care was taken in hiding services and illuminating the space. A double-sloped ceiling with integrated lighting allows for dramatic light infiltration, custom built-ins provide plenty of storage space and carefully selected finishes create a cozy atmosphere. A tiny 3-piece bathroom with integrated shower turns the space into a multifunctional family room, parent retreat or a guest apartment.
