Clinique De Mode is a Medical Spa brand with multiple locations across Toronto. The project brief called for a bright and welcoming reception and product showroom to support treatment rooms for a variety of services. While the treatment rooms offer a subtle and calming aesthetic the reception energizes the space and greet clients with a fun and enthusiastic forms that communicates CDM’s brand and public facing image.

This project is one of a series of locations which share a common brand aesthetic but use complex geometry and advanced fabrication methodologies to react to the different site conditions of each location. The implementation of advanced CNC fabrication and digital design techniques to create the free flowing, complex geometries that create a recognizable brand identity, while allowing for the parametric adaptation to specificity across CDM’s current and future spa locations.

The millwork material is bright but soft and matte giving the space a sensual and comforting feeling and puts clients at ease, while waiting for their treatment. These fabrication techniques allow for a highly customisable product at reasonable cost. This dichotomy sets it apart from more conventional approaches and is a key factor in the successful execution of the owner’s design brief, which had called for a balance between a consistent brand identity and perceived individuality at each spa location.

The tools and materials afforded by advanced digital fabrication give us much more flexibility when dealing with a variety of project constraints and permit us to execute our clients vision of a space that is as unique as their clients.
